Right, but I see it as a kind of last resort. I don't know much about
setuptools and initially got scared by bug report #273 (which, by the
way, has been hit by spam).

Okay, I understand that. I'm sorry that I overinterpreted you as being
completely against the idea of deb packages.

And it looks very nice when people say that you can just 'easy_install
foo'. So I will probably switch to that when I get more comfortable
with it.

I completely agree -- having packages is very nice, but having the
possibility to easy_install extra things as needed would be even
better.
