One possibility might be Screen Recorder (http://www.zdsoft.com/screen-recorder/) -- I remember checking out screen recorder software several months and settling on that one, because it could produce .avi files. I haven't used it extensively since then, though, so I can't give more details (for example, I have no idea what codec it uses internally).
