It's not you (and I don't think it's CherryPy). We've got a lot of code that gets imported when you "import turbogears". I've been thinking about ways to deal with that, but I'm not sure if it can be done in a backwards-compatible manner. And, of course, the more of TG that you use, the more that your app will need to import at startup time. At times, I have thought about some pretty radical solutions to this problem, because it's one that I'd like to see fixed. However, I should note that my own development tends to be partly shielded from this because I do test driven development and run my tests more often than update code on a running server process.
