Roopesh, I might be off here, but the code that Lee suggested - did you put that in your Layout.kid file, or your SearchPage.kid file? (it is supposed to go in your Layout.kid file).
Also, it really helps to view->source to see what javascript is getting sent to the browser! If all this fails, try reading through some of the documentation for the 'kid' templating language.
