Hello,

HI Rob, this is elpargo from IRC

I see there are some packages that have tarballs. Are these usable with
TurboGears or must we use the egg versions only?

For the packages that have been converted to eggs, have they been
patched in any other way, or can we safely use the original upstream
source?
nothing is patched they are just there so people with binary systems
don't need a compiler.

I'm concern with the way the packages are being installed they are
threaded as normal distutils modules and even though setuptools was
develop to be backwards compatible there has been some problems with
mixing packages, installed with setuptools easy_install and python
setup.py.

Could the packages be migrated to use
single-version-externally-managed? I strongly believe a new eclass
that extends disutils should be created to handle egg-enable packages.

I remenber there was an overlay at http://eggs.gentooexperimental.org/
I believe it was you that maintained it. why that was drop?

Thanks,
Rob
