Howdy!
After examining Genshi as an alternative to Kid (which is working
quite nicely for me so far), I can see the following reasons to switch:
* Genshi is faster than Kid in many circumstances.
* Genshi is non-validating, although I -like- validating.
* Genshi provides a mechanism to limit allowed HTML in serialized
3rd party content.
* Genshi provides better templated plain text output.
* Genshi has a cooler name -- it's Japanese. :D
Reasons to stay:
* Genshi is not yet well supported by TurboGears for components
like Widgets.
* Genshi does not (or does not easily) support custom namespace
functions, preferring Genshi-defined functions instead.
* It's a new format I would have to learn and convert existing
content to.
The last item is the big one. How would I, for example, convert the
following site template into the Genshi equivalent? Is it worthwhile
to try? And finally, is anyone willing to take a crack at it? ;^)

The above template includes layout polymorphing (one or two column)
with portlets (abused widgets), breadcrumbing, and class- and label-
customizable flash messages.
