I'va also seen this problem after upgrading to 1.0 yesterday (from 1.0b1). It happens at (seemingly) random times and restarting with Ctrl-C and 'python start-myproj.py' makes it run again.
I'm also running on Mac OS X 10.4 with python 2.4.
