Oh well - my emphasis was not on the word "unit", but on "testing". You are probably right that testing a controller is more like a functional test. Anyway, it would make sense to test the controller. Maybe you are saying that you will need some kind of framework for testing the controller anyway, and this framework should care of that problem?
