Another reason all this is a good idea is because it can help to be able show a potential client that they can get someone else if need be, especially if you work in the sketchy low budget end of the business with small businesses, as do I. I recently encountered this in pitching someone who had been burned before by bad developers. When they found out I was using tools they had never heard of, I was not really prepared to have to convince someone who doesn't know anything about web dev why I choose TG and python. They were particularly wary because they had a ( justified ) fear that they could be left high and dry and have to look for someone else to fix their site. Being able to easily demonstrate over a browser that my choice of platform has traction and experts available for hire would certainly have been useful.
