We've just done something similar myself... One server holds the turbogears instance and database.
The calendar display in the client's site is initialized by javacript which does a remote request to the calendar server to collect the calendar data. The trickery (and possibly the deal breaker for you) is the need to use apache's mod_rewrite on the server hosting the client's domain in order to be able to make the xmlHttpRequest to the same domain as the page which initializes it. We'd be happy to share the code if you'd like - I'll just need to slap some licenses on it. We'll do that on Monday and then post an svn url here...
