Seems like TurboMail would be a decent place to start, though it wouldn't
provide everything you want.  It should be capable of handling the sending
of mail, but you'd also need to code something up to handle incoming mail.
This route is more of a replacement for Mailman than an integration though.

Searchable archives should be doable with TurboLucene, I think.

I'm interested to see what you come up with...keep us updated on your
progress!
