Once it is further refined I will be happy to share the code. Right now
it's an unsightly mess as I'm still figuring out the best way to use the
widgets for it. It's probably something that would be good to have as as
a ToscaWidget in the not too distant future. 

I think you're right about the frames. By making it ajax based it seems
like I'd run a risk of getting stuck in dynamic positioning hell. I also
like the fact that the frame solution can closely resemble the way it
will be done in a wxWidgets app too.
