Ah, I see what you mean.  That would be a useful enhancement, yes.

However, it would require some extra pre-processing work, as the
values would need to be fetched from the source in order to construct
the ranges.  This could be optimised to fetch only the values required
(on the page boundaries) but would be a useful (optional) feature
nonetheless.

Any chance you could create a patch for that, which we could then
merge in with these other changes?
