I just trying mako out and met some problem with mako plugin on
windows and utf-8, so I wrote one http://paste.turbogears.org/paste/1229

I've made a mako quickstart template, too.

welcome.mak http://paste.turbogears.org/paste/1227

master.html http://paste.turbogears.org/paste/1228

which are function equivalent to the default quickstart template

I found mako is more intuitive for template inheritance, but the
template itself is not as readable as kid.

ps. I've sent this mako plugin to Alberto and ask for his opinion,
the patch seems not general enough but I've not much time to deal with
it in rest of the month,
hope somebody could pick it up and improve it :-P

Append the reply message by Alberto:
"""
- The plugin no longer behaves statelessly because you're rebinding
self.lookup every time a template is loaded. This isn't threadsafe
- I guess you need to change the "directories" option, right? I
suspect that this patch will break Mako support in Pylons since it
doesn't use the dotted path notation to refer to templates. I think
that the proper way to do this would be to patch TG so it passes the
"directories" and "encoding" options to the plugin when initializing
it, something like the patch at [1] does. If it works for you it will
be a good addition to 1.0.2, feel free to commit the fix."""
