I have PIL-1.1.6 installed on my Mac as an egg. I installed it for FileFields.
ie: /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.4/lib/python2.4/site- packages/PIL-1.1.6-py2.4-macosx-10.3-fat.egg/ Unfortunately it is called both PIL and Imaging, and that's what confuses easy_install.
