A lot of the time, I agree too. But that said, I used to miss dropping down to raw sql and then made a point of sitting down with the SQLAlchemy docs for a weekend going through the examples one by one. Now I can't shut up about how great sqlalchemy is and don't miss the raw sql in my python at all. I still use it for sql files of course. Just my two cents!
