Hi, The problem is more likely to be the media-type.
FeedController rightly sets the Content-Type of the response accordingly of each feed type (atom and rss) [1] but browsers like IE6 and Fx1.5 don't know what to do with them. You could try to use "application/xml" instead but I'm not even sure that'd work better. - Sylvain [1] http://trac.turbogears.org/browser/trunk/turbogears/feed/feed.py buffalob a écrit : > Chris, > For example, the following real world RSS 2.0 feed URL (a health news > feed from Reuters) is dislayed as raw XML using both Internet Explorer > 6.0 and Firefox 1.5.0.3: > > http://www.microsite.reuters.com/rss/healthNews/ > > But when I take that feed and use its data item content to build my > own RSS 2.0 feed using TG via FeedController (suose for example, I am > merging multiple Reuters feeds together for a one-stop Reuters feed), > then the URL for that feed (which successfully does validate in W3C > validator as valid RRS 2.0) when put into that same Internet Explorer > 6.0 does not display any XML content and results in the following > dialog box being displayed: > > File Download > Do you want to save this file? > Name: rss2.0 > Type: Unknown File Tye > From: ... my server name and port > [SAVE] {Cancel] > > Very similarly for Firefox 1.5.0.3, the TG-generated feed does not > display XML as it does for the reuters.com feed URL, but instead > dislays the following dialog box: > > Opening rss2.0 > which is a 0 file > from: http://... my server name and port > What should Firefox do with this file? > [_] Open with [Browse...] > [_] Save to Disk > [OK] [Cancel] > > (And if I go through steps to save and then open in a text editor, I > eventually do see my TG-generated RSS 2.0 XML but this is much less > convenient than having it shown in the browser right away.) > > Somehow the RSS 2.0 data sent from my TG program somehow must appear > differently to IE 6.0 and Firefox 1.5.0.3 than does the RSS 2.0 feed > from reuters.com, even though the W3C validator confirms it is valid, > and readers from Google and Bloglines process it fine, and the newer > broswer versions of both IE and Firefox treat is just fine with their > new enhanced RSS capabilities. > > The other issue, possibly related but that's just speculation, is that > some RSS feed readers such as My Yahoo! also do not acknowledge my TG- > generated RSS 2.0 feeds as such.
