Hi,

The problem is more likely to be the media-type.

FeedController rightly sets the Content-Type of the response accordingly 
of each feed type (atom and rss) [1] but browsers like IE6 and Fx1.5 
don't know what to do with them.

You could try to use "application/xml" instead but I'm not even sure 
that'd work better.
