I had a very similar problem that could not be resolved with a simple install of RuleDispatch. It turned out that removing and re-installing in the site-packages was not enough. When I deleted the folder: /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/dispatch the problem resolved itself. Strange huh? I think it may have come from running a dev version of ruledispatch, but I am not sure.
