Your main point seems to be that you chose TurboGears because it readily integrates SQLAlchemy. Which does not explain, why you chose it over Pylons. You say, TG seemed "more complete and popular", and from what I hear about Pylons, it seems it is indeed a little bit more low-level. But as a reader I would wish know a little more about how Pylons and TurboGears compare. Widgets used to be one of the big selling points of TG for me, but you can also use ToscaWidgets with Pylons. I can't judge the popularity argument. I can only say that TG's project's contributors are committed to driving the development forward.
