I totally agree with you. Typical case of given all the right
information in detail but not making sense as a whole. Similar to the
docs for the "email" package (though this has actually improved over
time, I think, but I still often encounter people that have no idea how
to use this module properly...).
What is missing most, IMHO, is a set of simple recipes for most common
uses. This could be a starting point:
