Hmm... This is strange. I've suddenly started getting the error whereas last night I couldn't replicate it. Maybe now I can debug it, though.

If anyone else wants to look, here's the minimal project:
http://toshio.fedorapeople.org/snifflemap.tar.gz

here's the URL to test:
http://localhost:8080/process_registration?user_id=tam&password=tom

Happens even if you change the dburi setting to sqlite.

Unfortunately, I built exactly how you specified and I still have my
original problem. It seems that I'm hitting the 'flash' because my
request header contains the text from it, but CherryPy still ends up
giving a 500 server error. Can we do a version comparison again, now
that I'm on Fedora and I've installed everything the same way as you?

Versions:
$ rpm -q python-cherrypy TurboGears python-sqlalchemy python-elixir python-genshi python-sqlobject
python-cherrypy-2.3.0-3.fc8
TurboGears-1.0.4.2-3.fc8
python-sqlalchemy-0.4.2-1.p3.fc8
python-elixir-0.5.1-1.fc8
python-genshi-0.4.4-2.fc8
python-sqlobject-0.9.2-1.fc8
