The target community isn't used to a lot of polish. Proof of concept with a meta project on-site was exactly what I had in mind. Well, not exactly, but close enough. What I had in mind was a working alpha. It would be doable in that time frame if the apps were available off the shelf. They aren't, but that's OK. I'm working for myself on this one. :-) There's another project in the same community where I have a co- developer available in November and December. I want to crank out something really challenging in the interim so that I can show him the value of working the MVC pattern. He's a database programmer who writes Python as if it was Cobol. I'm the sysadmin who's going to have to maintain the project when he retires next year. It's going to end up a TurboGears project eventually, but I want to show him it's worth writing it as one. So this is what I'm going to do... I'm going to work on a set of controller classes to manage modules. I'll grab some of the demo and pre-alpha projects floating around for the reference implementation and see how soon I can set up a site for proof of concept.
