Probably you don't use the right encoding. Please note that you should use Python strings as unicode in your application and display the website using UTF-8.

Please open a new thread for other problems. Otherwise some people might ignore your new problems if they feel they can't say anything useful because of the message's summary. Also I have no clue what your problem is with checkboxes. Please be aware that there are many different libraries and approaches to HTML generation so you need to specify what libraries/versions you use.
