I have no particular opinion on dotted name support except that:

a) I think I read somewhere that it was now unnecessary and that the
relevant template path was already in place, so tried removing the
"projectname.templates." prefix, and couldn't get it to work;
b) Pretty much all the documented examples use dotted notation, so I
couldn't see how to do it any other way or what I was doing wrong in
the first place.

Of course, I could have completely misunderstood what is meant by
dotted notation - if so, please forgive me. :)

I do organise my templates in a hierarchical structure and would be
interested in whether this would be affected by removal of this
support.
