At this point in time all that's probably needed is someone to get it
done as the hard showstoppers from back then are fixed.

1- 10k file limit (with the zip import)
2- pylons not working
3- genshi/mako not running
4- C dependencies

I'll advice you to use the 2.1 branch as the drop from TurboJson
reduces the C dependencies count by a lot.

The only issue I can see today is zope.sqlalchemy as the transaction
manager needs C extensions but that is an optional dependency.

and of course some interfaces to the datastore and the gae apis'


Bottom line no one in the "core" team is currently interested (or has
the time) in appengine.
Although I do have to admit that I'm getting more interested in it
recently due to wave, but I'm not touching it until I get my sandbox
account.
So anyone willing to take on the task is more than welcome and I'm
sure you will get the support of the team.
