I think, using both RUM or Catwalk 2, you can integrate JS  
functionality by using custom widget.
So, if you know the needed JS, that shouldn't be a problem for you  
doing that using one of them.

Actually, that is just, how I understand RUM:
something ultra-flexible using rules and a component architecture,
allowing me build my own stuff matching the requirements of my end  
users.
