Things will be slightly different tonight. I'm addressing emails from Alessandro that he's sent over in addition to using the list. These emails actually wound up affecting everybody, even if no one knew it, so it's a good thing.
First, though, the regular status: *What Got Done?* Less than should have gotten done. I got some work done on smaller pieces, though I was becoming somewhat frustrated with tgext.pages. I discovered a few small bugs that were causing bad behaviors. I've fixed those bugs, and committed them to the local clone of the repository. Florent, might I talk you into doing the push so that others can benefit? One of those bugs caused the site to run significantly slower than it should have. Retrieving of the index page was taking about 3 seconds for me. With the bug fixed, we're down to about 0.3 seconds. I've also improved locale handling, fixed a problem with a missing blob table, and in general made the whole site that much more stable. I'm pleased with this result. Christoph managed to make some pretty good progress on the 1.x documentation. It does have one drawback, in that I don't want to extend the menu bar too far, and adding another three documentation links on the main navigation bar could be too much. I'll work on it and see what can be done with that. Even with that, the progress made is very impressive. Thank you, Christoph. I do appreciate the work you're doing. Alessandro has closed a number of bugs in our new tracker already. That helps us get all the closer to our next release before I've switched over to code work. Thank you, Alessandro, for making me look so bad ;) We also found out that we need to upgrade one of the packages in our PyPI. One of the fixes Alessandro did requires a newer version of WebOb for the new tests he wrote (and all the existing tests) to pass. *Where Are We Now?* Christoph is nearing completion with the 1.x docs. The 2.x items are done. The new server is up, running, and ready to take over. Things are looking pretty good. I'm thinking we might be able to change DNS records for next week's status update, and be working exclusively with the new server. *What WIll Get Done This Week?* I'm getting to work on 2.0.4 bugs. I'm not sure how many are left (I just haven't looked right now), but if there's a small enough number, I'll cut a release around the end of the week for it. I'd like to be able to put that release out, and get to work on 2.1.1 ASAP. Christoph, will you be able to get through the 1.x docs this week? And it's okay to say no, I'm just wanting to find out if we can plan the DNS changeover for the coming weekend. I'll also work on getting the CogBin ported to the new server and working. *Now, On To The Emails* >From Alessandro, he had numerous website suggestions. I've implemented a fair few of them. However, I can't provide proper descriptions since I can't read most of their websites. I could handle Spanish, somewhat, but I don't know Italian. I'll gladly add any graphics that can be submitted, but until I can work on my skills with Gimp, I don't have many options for adding graphics to it. I've done so, and the site should work wonderfully for you now. -- Michael J.
