Hello all. I'm breaking from my usual format, since it doesn't quite seem to apply very well this time. I've been, pretty much, offline for the past three weeks. Work has been bad, and early last week I was informed that my job would be gone as of Nov 1. So, if there's anybody out there who has information on jobs (contract or fulltime), please send it along if you can. Or send my resume (see the link in my signature) to the people hiring. Thank you, and that's all the self-promotion I'll do here.
Now, on to TG2 itself: While I did not get much done, the project has continued moving along. Alessandro has managed to get Mongo/Ming support nearly complete from the sounds of it. We need to test like crazy, and make sure that we're ready for the world to receive it. Due to this, we might have to push the release back a week. Please, anybody who can test, test. We need your feedback in addition to our own testing to make sure that this feature is truly ready to go. Related to Ming/Mongo, Luke installed Mongo on jenkins.turbogears.org for us. I'll be configuring the full testing for Ming/Mongo over the weekend, so we'll have as much testing as possible. Related to Luke himself, he did a bunch of work this past week on OpenShift (RedHat's cloud) getting TG2 working on it. He sent me some links, and I wanted to share them with you all here: https://github.com/lmacken/turbogears2-openshift-quickstart https://github.com/lmacken/pyramid-openshift-quickstart https://github.com/lmacken/<https://github.com/lmacken/openshift-quickstarter> openshift-quickstarter <https://github.com/lmacken/openshift-quickstarter> Chris Perkins has been working on sprox, and is getting ready to release 0.7 in the very near future. Alessandro and Chris have been working on updated tgext.admin, tgext.crud, and Sprox to have full Ming/Mongo support. Watching twitter.com, I've seen advertisements for TG2 jobs bouncing around (unfortunately for me, this was before I knew I needed such myself, so I'm pretty sure i missed the opportunity). I've also seen hints of people advertising for TG jobs on reddit, too. People are noticing the project again, and that's always a good thing. We're still going to try for doing the release work starting this weekend. The release might be a week late getting out, though. We have to make sure everything is ready for it. That's really all that I have and know about for now. If I've missed anything from anybody, please fill us all in. We'd appreciate it! -- Michael J.
