We would need to see the output of the web server to try to help with this. It's likely a misconfig somewhere in Apache.
If you use "wget --save-headers --max-redirect 3 http://www.example.com/"; the first several lines of the output file will be the output headers from the server, and will help us diagnose what's going on and how to fix it.
