Tonight's status update feels rather redundant, since I've just published the release announcement. Still, I *am* trying to be more regular with these status updates for people, so I'm not going to skip on a night when I have some really good news to put into it.
What Got Done? Well, we got a release out the door. TG 2.1.3 is out, and we now fully support Mongo as a NoSQL database. This turned out to be somewhat difficult, too. There's a patch for Ming ( http://merciless.sourceforge.net/ ) that should have held things up, since it's not yet applied upstream. Instead, we've published our own patched version for 2.1.3 in our own eggbasket. For 2.1.4, we'll use the official version, as that should have the patch applied by then. Aside from that, it went mostly smoothly, and I'm pleased with the results. I am thinking of writing some sort of application to publish a release announcement, though. In order to do this, I have to publish to my blog, twitter, G+, both of the mailing lists, and update the main website. Since it's always the same information, it starts to feel somewhat redundant. Where Are We Now? Well, since my work life is freeing up lots of time right now, and not taking my night life, I'm able to focus more in depth for TG. That should help me have the time to answer questions on the ML, and contribute more to making the next release even better. I'm happy about that, definitely. What Will Get Done? I'm not sure yet. I've got two projects that need to be addressed: Hiring Pond and some improvements for the Allura navigation. I discussed the issues with Mark, and SF is open to receiving a patch. I need to work on both of these items, and I need to work on improving test coverage and closing tickets for TG. There's a lot to do, and I'm not sure what I'm going to work on for the next week. All I can promise is that I will be working on it, and the results should be visible somewhere sometime soon. I hope everybody else will think of them as worthwhile, too. I'm not going to publish this update on the main site, or on my blog, since I don't want it to overshadow the release. Everybody, enjoy it, and we'll keep plugging away to make the next release better and better. -- Michael J.
