Hi Adapting to django from tg is easier than django to tg.
I strongly suggest starting with the tutorial they have on the django website. It gives you the most basic understanding on how django works. You will have to understand django views, how django orm works an how to use django templates which is less powerful than mako or jinja. The advanced side of django lies wirhin the orm and middlewares to extend django. I believe a good tg developer can use django in expert level with giving two minths of work.
