Short answer: You can't. When TG receives a request for / or /index or /index.html it looks for .index on the controller. That's just the way it works. The closest you can get is by using _lookup to provide a custom choice for how to handle it all, but it must handle all of the cases you describe. Short of rewriting core pieces of TurboGears, there's no other way. -- Michael J.
