There are several problems here. First, ${} is only for expressions. You need <?python ... ?> for embedding code blocks. Second, it looks like you want to iterate through your Python list on every click. But Kid templates are rendered only once. The attribute would be set to the first element of your list and that's it. You have to use JavaScript if you want something more dynamic.
