HI DRC,

I am seeing the same issue as this. As root everything works fine. When I 
open a session as a NIS user the screen is black. These users weren't 
generated by RHEL 7, They were done by RHEL 5. So there might be something 
missing in their home directory that is required. Let me know what other 
information you need.
