In that case, the problem may be the opposite of what I thought.  If
you're using the dev branch, then the RENDER extension may be too new
for CentOS 7.4.  Can you try the 2.2.5 version instead?  I'm just
curious as to whether it experiences the same issue.  It would be odd
for an application to demand an X11 extension that is older than a
particular version, but I've seen stranger things.
