Referring to https://turbovnc.org/DeveloperInfo/Versioning, normally when a new release series leaves the beta testing phase, the previous release series is moved into the Maintenance support category, the release series before that is moved into the Extended support category, and the release series before that reaches EOL.

However, since TurboVNC 3.3 came so quickly on the heels of 3.2, I am leaving the 3.1.x series in the Maintenance support category and the 3.0.x series in the Extended support category until 2027. That will ensure a 5-year lifespan for 3.0.x.

The 3.3 release is relatively non-disruptive compared to 3.2.x, so I encourage everyone to upgrade.

Maintenance branches proactively receive any relevant fixes and non-disruptive enhancements from the current release series, and pre-release builds are generated for those branches (https://turbovnc.org/DeveloperInfo/PreReleases). Project sponsors can request an official Extended Support Release from a Maintenance branch.

Extended branches proactively receive only critical fixes from the current release series, and pre-release builds are not generated. Project sponsors can request an official signed build (unreleased) from an Extended branch.
