container.java checkin

I will be checking in changes to container.java which will allow it  
to compile and pass unit tests. I had to comment out three unit tests  
related to loading SCDL (I added FIXME tags). Sebastien, could you  
take a look? Also, the changes include some refactorings to the  
invocation framework.
