I have been trying to work out our options here. This is an example
of a more general problem where third party dependencies don't buy
into the maven repository binary artifact distribution story, so I
feel there must be a better general solution that the one we have at
the moment. I hadn't appreciated how much we are relying on others
republishing EMF artifacts for their own purposes. I think we must
find a way to be in control of the artifacts that are available. I
don't think I can just put the EMF artifacts into the apache
repository. Does anybody have any experience of projects in a similar
situation that they can point to to show how the issue has bee
resolved. I'm going to investigate what service things like ibiblio
etc. offer to see if we can get some guaranteed hosting of these
artifacts from there.

Kelvin.

Hi Ole

This EMF dependency is the unique remaining issue in order to go
ahead with a DAS RC. Would you like to help us with this ?

SDO Guys, any other ideas/options ? I think this would be the same
issue for anyone trying to build SDO beta1 (or probably trunk as well)
from scratch today.

need to get more familiar with the process though. I know the ApacheDS artifacts
get pushed to Ibiblio with each release. Another option is to just make a local
Tuscany repo for the EMF dependencies. We could run a shell script (I think the
EMF build has such a script) that downloads the EMF jars, creates Maven repository
artifacts out of them, and then puts them in subversion or some other http
accessible location
