Venkata, I agree with your comments. David's diagrams are a good view of a single runtime. We can use that view to describe what is happening in Java and C++ code bases. I'm not convinced that tweakes to this diagram format are easily going to be able to convey SCA motivation and values. SCA seems to do two things implicitly.
1) describe the composition of finer grained components into coarser grained components/services 2) describe an IT system in terms of the components/services from which it is built. SCA may do both of these things well but I don't think we are very good at describing this. Some people come to us wanting to know how to build services. Some people want to know how to build systems from services. So the diagram we need is more like one of the context diagrams from the spec that shows a system being built out of components and other non-SCA services and, in turn, some of those components being composed from lower level components. The real value is then that you can do all of this with the flexibility provided by the various containers and bindings, and in the future policies etc. Regards Simon On 7/20/06, Venkata Krishnan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
David, this looks a really very nice arial view :-) I agree that the DAS, SDO and Tools blocks should not overlay the core and hosting platform blocks. Now, if you look the diagram, it gives an impression of one huge middleware that encapsulates all sorts of containers. The aspect of being able to 'integrate' distributed systems is not so evident. We need to probably think about positioning the 'extensions' differently to bring this point out. The intention is, when a person sees the picture he must get an idea of where he is going to be able to use this. Makes sense? Thanks. - Venkat On 7/20/06, Luciano Resende <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > So, If i'm guessing right, the idea is to have this diagram on the main > page, and once a user clicks on a link, let's say DAS, it would go to a DAS > "overview" page ?
