Thanks for the hint about building Venkat.
From that change the RMI binding now has a dependency on the Tuscany API
(because the RMI samples need TuscanyRuntimeException?). I wondered if this was the correct place for it or if the standalone launcher should really be including the API in the lib directory instead of the boot directory, that would match where it is in the webapp directories?

After this I pulled down the whole of https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/tuscany/branches/sca-java-M2/.. afresh and have been able to build successfully. Before this commit the revision at the head of this branch was 464158. Now it is 464185.
