I think we need a clean SPI for this similar to what we've done with the
ContributionService. These operations are currently partially implemented by
CompositeActivator, and EmbeddedSCADomain but they are not proper SPIs.
We also need a service (in the SCA term) interface for this admin capability,
and expose it using the WS binding (or another suitable binding, but WS seems
the simplest), and also make sure that the service interface is designed in
such a way that it'll be possible to provide it using JMX as well.
In addition, we should have the ability to generate notifications when a
component is started/stopped. This has already been mentioned on the dev list
as well in http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg19225.html.
