Hi Ron,
It looks like you've run into an EMF limitation that can't be fixed easily, if
at all. The problem is that constraints imposed by a complex type with simple
content which extends another complex type with simple content will not be
validated. The problem is because the base type (CommentType) defines the
"value" property and the subtype (MyCommentType) can't override it. It's an EMF
limitation similar to the pre Java 5 limitation that said if a class defines a
method to return some base type, for example:
class Foo {
Base getFoo() { ... }
}
then you can't override the method in a subclass to return a sub type:
class Bar extends Foo {
Sub getFoo() { ... }
}
That's the analogous problem to the one EMF has with properties.
So, unless you run an actual XML validator, or merge the constraints into the
base type, you're not going to be able to validate them.
