Agreed --- but the new Microsoft shell looks very interesting. Ars has a good review of it here: http://arstechnica.com/guides/other/msh.ars It borrows from all over the place, including Perl, Python, (ba)sh, and SQL, so the syntax sometimes seems to fight itself. But, overall, I'm very impressed.
