I use Eclipse (www.eclipse.org) with the pydev plugin (pydev.sourceforge.net). Eclipse is written in Java (you need the JVM to run it, and a decent amount of memory) and was originally intended for Java development (that's what most of the docs reflect). It now has plugins available for other languages. It also has am SVN plugin. Matthew
