Trying to teach you to fish :-) I highly recommend becoming familiar with chapter 2 of the Library Reference, it has a wealth of detail about built-in functions and types (string, list, dict...). I actually have four browser bookmarks that point into that chapter (built-in functions, built-in types, string methods and built-in exceptions).
