I have found the following book quite helpful and keep it handy: "Python Pocket Reference" by Mark Lutz, 4th ed., c. 2010.
It was released at the time that 3.0 and 2.6 were the current Python versions, but tries to include what was intended for the 2.x and 3.x future releases as he knew them then.
