I tried installing this about 6 months ago on windows and gave up after about a day and just made a ubuntu vm to install it. (you can install via apt-get in ubuntu) if you are ok with reverting to 32bit anyway, I assume you aren't doing any huge number crunching so you might have a look at that as a quick option.
