Just finished watching "Action!" on streaming Netflix. Definitely a nice blast from the past for those who remember the Jay Mohr-starring show from 1998. So here's my question. Those who remember watching the original series remember it ended with Jay Mohr's producer character dying in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. It gives the time of death as 9:30 p.m. on a Thursday night, coinciding with the series' time. Well, it turns out there were three more shows after the last one that aired on TV. The next episode picks up with Jay Mohr waking up in a hospital ER room as his ex-wife reads his will. The next few episodes are pretty good and are worth watching for anyone who liked the original series. I'm curious if they had a good idea that the show would be axed and built that ambulance scene in as a series ender? Or by chance did they have a commitment and they filmed the last three episodes after it was cancelled in case it could be picked up on cable? It's just interesting that they built in this ending to the series when they also had three more episodes. And I didn't remember that was R. Lee Ermy, the brutal drill sergeant in "Full Metal Jacket," who played the director. It was a pretty decent performance.
