Husband-and-wife talk show hosts Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan
moved their act from over-the-air "teatime" to satellite prime time
Tuesday night as the flagship show of the new satellite channel Watch
(owned by BBC Worldwide and Virgin Media's UKTV)--and despite having
Samuel L. Jackson as one of their opening night guests, "Richard and
Judy's New Position" (sounds like porn to me) only pulled 143,000
viewers (counting the "+1" time-shift version of Watch) on Tuesday,
while 1.5M watched their farewell to Channel 4 on August:

UKTV spinners said that the numbers should pick up with the daytime
repeats yesterday (like U.S. cable channels, UK "multichannels" sell
ads based on total cume) and point out that Watch is only available on
the Sky satellite service and Virgin's cable systems and not on the
Freeview digital boxes that provide many UK viewers with multichannel
programming. Still, it's a fall for the couple who dominated mid-
morning television for years in the UK on ITV.

Watch's other programming is mostly repeats of recent UK series from
the Beeb and other sources with inserted commercials, including
"Doctor Who" and "Torchwood"--its only American series are "Dancing
With the Stars," "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and "Shark."
