I don't think that Alec was reading cue cards. I believe that he was
looking away because, had he actually gazed upon the visage of Miss
Alaska, he would have turned to stone - or we might have seen one of
those fits of projectile vomiting that I find so inexplicably
hilarious in SNL sketches.
